Midfielder arrives at impuls-Arena after signing a two-year deal

Newly-promoted Augsburg have completed the Bosman signing of former NEC Nijmegen midfielder Lorenzo Davids. The nephew of former Juventus star Edgar Davids has signed a deal until June 2013 at impuls-Arena after deciding not to extend his deal with NEC. Davids, 24, scored two goals in 29 top-flight matches for NEC in 2010/2011 and has become Augsburg's fourth new signing as they prepare for life in the Bundesliga. He told the official website of his new club: "Moving from the Eredivisie to the Bundesliga is the next step in my career as a player. "It's a switch I had hoped to make. I have watched the Bundesliga a lot on TV in recent years. There are big clubs and big stadiums. Now I have the chance to play in that competition." Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay said: "Lorenzo Davids was on our shortlist for quite some time. We are delighted to now have the chance to sign him on a Bosman contract."
