Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner remains positive over the chances of agreeing a new loan deal for David Alaba.
The versatile Bayern Munich midfielder, who can also play at full-back, spent the second half of last season at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena as part of the Luiz Gustavo transfer.
Alaba, 18, is tipped for big things at Bayern and recently extended his contract until 2015, but he is not yet guaranteed first-team football at the Allianz Arena.
Hoffenheim are therefore optimistic that Bayern will welcome the opportunity for their teenage prospect to gain experience elsewhere, and a future loan could hinge on the pursuit of Arturo Vidal.
Tanner told spox.com: "I am cautiously optimistic on us finding a solution with Bayern Munich.
"As far as I am concerned, it looks to be dependent on the chances of Bayern Munich signing Arturo Vidal from Bayer Leverkusen.
"We are doing our best to see David Alaba remain with us for one more campaign.
"He surely has a better chance to play first-team football at our club than at a club like Bayern Munich."
