Midfielder targets regular football after leaving Leverkusen

Nurnberg have completed the free transfer of midfielder Hanno Balitsch from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen. The former Germany international has signed a contract until June 2014 at easy-Credit-Stadion having become surplus to requirements at Leverkusen. Balitsch, 31, had six months remaining on his contract, but had never commanded a regular first-team place after his arrival at the beginning of last season. He told Nurnberg's official website: "I am happy this has been worked out. I was keen to return to the pitch for some match action not just as a bit-part player." Meanwhile Leverkusen manager Robin Dutt told Rheinische Post: "We have agreed not to breathe a word about the reasons why Hanno Balitsch was granted a transfer."
