Hamburg are on the verge of agreeing new contracts with Marcell Jansen and Tolgay Arslan.
Altintop and De Guzman too expensive for Hamburg
Hamburg general manager Frank Arnesen is confident the club are on the verge of agreeing new contracts with Marcell Jansen and Tolgay Arslan.
Former Germany international Jansen and ex-Turkey Under 21 international Arslan both have just another 12 months to run on their current deals.
But it has been reported Hamburg are offering extensions to the summer of 2015 and Arnesen thinks agreements could be close.
He told
Hamburger Morgenpost: "In terms of Marcell Jansen and Tolgay Arslan, I am optimistic.
"I think we will swiftly agree new contracts."
Very happy
Hamburg manager Thorsten Fink added with regard to the role of Jansen: "He has been very effective since I became manager of the club.
"He has scored goals and he has assisted goals. If Marcell continues like this, we will be very happy in the next few years."
But Arnesen does not think Hamburg are going to sign the midfield trio of Karlsruher's Hakan Calhanoglu, Real Madrid's Hamit Altintop and Villarreal's Jonathan de Guzman.
On 18-year-old Calhanoglu, Arnesen said: "We are actually not looking for players aged 18, 19 or even 20 years."
Meanwhile, Altintop and De Guzman are thought to be too expensive for Hamburg.
Arnesen said: "Right now there will be no deal in terms of Hamit Altintop. And Jonathan de Guzman is simply too expensive for a transfer to our club."
