Schalke scouts are reported to have been at the Philips Stadium to watch him in the Uefa Cup game against Kaiserslautern, despite the Dane recently signing a five-year extension to his contract.
The 22-year-old has many admirers in Germany after an impressive performance against them for Denmark.
Schalke see him as the ideal replacement for Czech midfielder Radoslav Latal, who is set to return home, and striker Ebbe Sand is hoping that he will have a fellow Dane at the club.
"He's a very fast player and he's an incredibly dangerous winger," said Sand.
Meanwhile, Romedahl scored twice as his PSV side crushed FC Utrecht 5-1 on Sunday.
"It was a lovely preparation for the two internationals," Rommedahl said. "I have had an excellent spring with the club side. At the moment, I have alot of self-confidence.
"We took it easy after the fourth goal. I could notice some tiredness at the end, after two matches in three days. Let's now hope that I can transform it to the National Team"
