Three goals inside 35 minutes ripped the heart out of Bayern's challenge, and left the watching home supporters devastated.
Ivan Klasnic broke the deadlock after 19 minutes, and seven minutes later French star Johan Micoud doubled the visitors' advantage.
To the disbelief of the Bayern players, Ailton added a third on 35 all but ending Bayern's hopes of a dramatic late-season comeback to overhaul their Bremen opponents on the final day.

Hertha Berlin forged a superb 6-2 victory against Borussia Dortmund, as they battle to get clear of relegation.
Marcelinho, Fredi Bobic, Artur Wichniarek, Andreas Nuendorf and Rafael added to an early own goal for Sebastian Kehl whilst Ewerthon grabbed a consolation brace for Dortmund.
Borussia Monchengladbach beat Schalke 2-0 with a goal from Markus Hausweiler and a Vaclav Sverkos penalty.
Kaiserslautern beat Wolfsburg 3-2 but had to come from behind.
Vratislav Lokvenc opened the scoring for the home side, but Wolfsburg scored twice in two minutes through Diego Klimowicz and Martin Petrov.
However a second for Lokvenc and Nenad Bjelica's winner keeps The Red Devils clear of the relegation dogfight.
Finally Hannover picked up a 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt - with a brace from Thomas Brdaric adding to a Mohammadou Idrissa strike.
