Ailton bags Bundesliga gong

Brazilian Ailton has been voted German Player of the Year.Brazilian striker Ailton has been voted German Player of the Year by football magazine Kicker.
The Schalke marksman, who bagged 28 goals for Werder Bremen as The Greens stormed to Die Bundesliga title last term, collected 216 of the 712 votes placed by sports journalists throughout the country.
By landing the prestigious award, Ailton became the first-ever foreigner to win the award since its conception in 1960.
Second place on the list went to Stuttgart's young German international defender Philipp Lahm (172 votes), with Bayern Munich midfield star Michael Ballack (63) coming third.
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf collected the Coach of the Year award ahead of Bochum manager Peter Neururer, who led his unfashionable club into Europe last season.
