Title-chasing Schalke show interest in Bielefeld midfielder Patrick Owomoyela
Title-chasing Schalke are looking to sign in-form Arminia Bielefeld midfielder Patrick Owomoyela.
A German newspaper reports that both Schalke's coach Ralf Rangnick and team manager Andreas Moller watched the 25-year-old in last week's 1-1 draw against Hansa Rostock and are keen to make a bid for his services.
The newspaper, 'Neue Westfalische', quotes Owomoyela's agent, Uwe Kathmann as saying:
"It would be good for his future development to move to a club that's playing in Europe."
The inspiring talent Owomoyela has demonstrated so far this season has led to him being nominated for Germany's squad tour of Asia in December.
Owomoyela, who joined Bielefeld from SC Paderborn in 2003, is contracted to stay at the club until 2006, however with his current form attracting so much attention, it will remain to be seen if newly-promoted Bielefeld will be able to hold onto their star for another season.
