Patrick Owomoyela has said that despite other interest he may stay at BielefeldArminia Bielefeld star Patrick Owomoyela has conceded that Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 are both interested in his services, although has not ruled out a stay with his current club.
The powerful right back has been a key player in newly promoted Bielefeld's surge to 10th in the Bundesliga, and made a good impression on the German national side's winter trip to Asia.
"Schalke have informed Bielefeld about their interest and now they want to talk to me, but so far nothing has happened as I was in Asia and now in the training camp," said Owomoyela.
"I have also been told that my adviser had been contacted by Bayern, but the matter is not as urgent as some press reports seem to suggest."
Before establishing himself at Bielefeld in 2003 the 25-year-old had played for three different clubs in five years, and may not want to continue this frequent club swapping.
In their first season back in the German top flight Bielefeld have done well to open up a ten point gap on the relegation zone, and could finally cement their position after years of hovering between the two top divisions.
"I haven't made my mind up yet, and won't do so before I have talked to Bielefeld," added Owomoyela.
"It's all about the best sporting perspectives for me and although they are good at clubs like Schalke and Bayern, something is happening here too and therefore I will have serious talks with Bielefeld."
The talented defender's agent had stated that he would be looking to leave the club in the summer, although the recent comments by Owomoyela suggest the issue is not that clear cut.
Bielefeld coach Uwe Rapolder would certainly be delighted if he could hold on to one of Germany's rising stars.
