Schalke have ended their interest in Patrick Owomoyela.Bundesliga title-chasers Schalke have told Arminia Bielefeld's Patrick Owomoyela that they will not be looking to sign him this summer.
The German international midfielder had widely been tipped to move to the Arena AufSchalke after a great season for Bielefeld this term, but the Royal Blues have now decided that Owomoyela is not the man they are looking for.
Team manager Andreas Muller revealed on Monday that the club had told Owomoyela that they no longer had interest in his services after deciding that his best position was in the right of midfield and not in their problem area, at right back.
Owomoyela, who is contracted at the Schuco Arena until 2006, is also believed to be a target for both Hertha Berlin and Hamburg.
It is believed he would command a fee of around é¼2.5 million should he leave unfashionable Bielefeld this summer.
