Schalke will be without German international Christian Pander for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The 21-year-old suffered the injury in the 3-0 defeat at Stuttgart at the weekend.
The young left back, whose superb form this season earned him promotion from the Under-21 side to Jurgen Klinsmann's national team, has torn ligaments in his left knee and is now expected to be sidelined for at least two months.
Pander's injury tops a frustrating trip to Stuttgart for the Royal Blues, who are set to miss two vital players for their next home game against Hamburg, with Lincoln suspended following his sending off while Marcelo Bordon received his fifth booking of the season at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium.
Better news for Schalke is that Brazilian striker Ailton looks likely to be fit to face Hamburg despite picking up a knee knock against Stuttgart.
