Germany Under-21 international Christian Pander has suffered another setback.Germany Under-21 international Christian Pander has suffered another setback in his attempt to return to action, seven months after tearing his cruciate ligament.
The gifted Schalke left back will not play before the end of the year after shelving his comeback plans this week, after heavy pain occurred following his return to training.
A medical check-up has now revealed that he must undergo minor surgery on his injured knee.
The 22-year-old will be sidelined for another four weeks but hopes that he will be able to report back to regular training when Schalke end their Christmas break on January 4.
Pander had been expected to make his full debut for Germany, but due to his injury he will only have five months left to convince Jurgen Klinsmann that he is worth a World Cup squad place.
