Dutch striker close to making decision on his future

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar claims a decision regarding his future is imminent, with Schalke expecting to be in a position to offer an update on Friday. The Holland international is yet to commit to a new deal with his German employers, sparking speculation that he could be on the move before the transfer window slams shut. Schalke are aware that anything is possible, with the former Ajax and Real Madrid striker attracting plenty of interest. The Bundesliga outfit may be forced to move their top marksman on if he decides against penning fresh terms, as he will become a free agent next summer. They are, however, optimistic that Huntelaar will agree a new deal, and the 29-year-old has revealed that he is close to making a choice.

Reasonable

"There will be a decision on my future when the time is right," he told Sportinformationsdienst. "I think that time is not far off." Schalke manager Horst Heldt is hoping for good news, but admits it may be deadline day before anything happens. "We will definitely not have a decision on this until Friday," he said. "He is in a situation where he could sign his final big deal and it's pretty obvious that he is weighing up all his options. That is fair and reasonable."
