Werder Bremen are reportedly closing in on Bochum's highly-regarded central defender Frank Fahrenhorst.
The North Germans are keen to find a successor to Serbian international Mladen Krstajic, who will leave the Weserstadion for Schalke next summer, and coach Thomas Schaaf has turned his attentions to the Bochum star.
The tall defender has already featured in Germany's B-Team 'Team 2006' and would be available on a free transfer in summer 2004 after turning down the chance to extend his spell with Bochum.
"I'll make up my mind next week," Fahrenhorst told Kicker about being offered a three-year deal.
