Magnin hints at exit

Werder Bremen's Ludovic Magnin feels that he is not given the credit he deserves.

Werder Bremen's Ludovic Magnin feels that he is not given the credit he deserves at last season's Double winners.

The Switzerland international has hinted that he might leave in the summer when his contract expires.

"I'll be free of charge and staying at Werder is one option for me, but not the only one," declared the 25-year-old, who has still failed to win undisputed first-team status in Thomas Schaaf's team.

Comments by director of sport Klaus Allofs following Bremen's 7-2 UEFA Champions League debacle against Lyon, in which Allofs singled out Magnin's poor performance have angered the Swiss star and seem set to poison the atmosphere for further talks.

"Okay, that was a bad performance from me, but the whole team was poor and I don't think it's okay to judge me based on that game alone as I have long proved what I am capable of doing," fumed Magnin.

It remains to be seen if Magnin's comments will help the player to win a new deal in Bremen, as the club have reportedly increased their scouting for a new left back, who would be able to add more steel to what has been a sloppy defence of late.
