Stuttgart have signed Werder Bremen defender Ludovic Magnin.Stuttgart have signed Werder Bremen defender Ludovic Magnin to replace the departing Philipp Lahm.
On-loan defender Lahm has spent the past two seasons at Stuttgart, but will return to parent club Bayern Munich this summer.
Lahm has been a great success at Stuttgart and identifying a replacement has been a top priority for coach Matthias Sammer.
The 26-year-old has penned a three-year deal with Stuttgart and will join on a free transfer at the end of the season.
"I'm delighted that Ludovic Magnin is coming to Stuttgart," Sammer said on the club's website.
"He's the player we wanted to replace Philipp Lahm. With Magnin and Thomas Hitzlsperger we've added two first-class players for the left side."
The Swiss stopper says that he decided to leave the German champions because he thought he could develop more with Stuttgart.
"I decided to leave Bremen after three-and-a-half years because VfB have got huge prospects," said Magnin.
"I hope to be successful with a young team and I hope to develop both as a player and personally.
"I am happy that the deal has gone through because now I know where I will be playing my football in the future."
