Werder Bremen keeper Andreas Reinke will be sidelined for some time.
Werder Bremen are reeling from the news that Andreas Reinke will be sidelined for some time with a facial injury.
The veteran keeper collided with Stuttgart's Martin Stranzl during the midweek Bundesliga meeting and was left in a heap on the turf.
The 37-year-old was treated for several minutes before being rushed to hospital.
A detailed assessment showed up a number of facial fractures. Reinke went under the knife on Thursday morning and is set to be sidelined for some time.
"He's doing well under the circumstances but did spend the night on heavy painkillers," confirmed Werder's medical chief Dr. Gotz Dimanski. "He is in good hands at the Katherinen Hospital and all points towards a successful operation."
