Werder Bremen underlined their title credentials with a thumping 6-1 win at Mainz.
Werder Bremen underlined their title credentials in emphatic fashion as they moved clear at the top of Die Bundesliga with a thumping 6-1 win at Mainz.
Bremen started the day alongside Schalke at the summit of the German league, but a thrilling display from Thomas Schaaf's men saw them claim a comprehensive victory on their travels.
Aaron Hunt and Miroslav Klose were the driving forces behind the victory with both players grabbing a brace.
Germany international Klose was the first off the mark, scoring on 14 and 21 minutes, whilst his young compatriot Hunt claimed his own brace with goals after 20 and 73 minutes.
Mimoun Azaouagh had hit back for Mainz (72), but Bremen were in dominant form and Naldo (80) and Diego (89) rounded off the rout.
