The 30-year-old seemed ready to leave financially struggling Stuttgart at the end of his contract in June 2003, but the club's sensational season - Felix Magath's side are current third and on track for Champions League qualification - forced him to reconsider his plans.
"We have been able to set ourselves new aims and I want to take part in realising them," declared the veteran midfielder, who adds vital experience and strong nerve to Magath's (pictured) 'young wilds'.
Meissner is a tough campaigner, whose style sometimes attracts cautions from Bundesliga referees, but he has been popular at Stuttgart since arriving in 2000.
