The 30-year-old has played a prominent role in Stuttgart's surprisingly successful season and has now been rewarded with an extended deal.
"I'm really pleased to have sorted the situation out and that both the club and I have agreed on a future together," Meissner said.
VfB president Manfred Haas also expressed his delight at the new deal, saying: "I'm happy that we've managed to keep hold of a player of the quality of Silvio Meissner for the next few years."
Meissner joined Stuttgart from Arminia Bielefeld in 2000 and has made 70 appearances for Die Schwaben, scoring 11 goals.
