Stuttgart defeated promoted Mainz 4-2 at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion on Sunday.Stuttgart have started their Bundesliga campaign with a 4-2 victory over promoted Mainz at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.
A hat-trick from Cacau sealed the three points for the Swabians, with the home side in a two-goal lead at the break from the Brazilian's brace.
Mainz pulled one back four minutes after half time through Christof Babatz, but Silvio Meissner made it 3-1 on 51 minutes.
Mainz defender Tamas Bodog made it 3-2 before Cacau completed his hat-trick with 12 minutes remaining for the 4-2 win.
In the other Bundesliga match on Sunday, Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia Monchengladbach played out a 0-0 draw at Stadion Alm.
It was a good point for Gladbach, who played most of the match with ten men after Marcelo Pletsch was sent off for two bookable offences in the space of six first half minutes.
