Stuttgart chase Sverkos

Stuttgart are on the trail of Vaclav Sverkos of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Stuttgart are on the trail of Borussia Monchengladbach striker Vaclav Sverkos.

The Czech Republic hot shot has spent two years at Gladbach and is under contract until 2009.

However, he has been targeted by new Stuttgart coach Giovanni Trapattoni as a replacement for Kevin Kuranyi, and Sverkos is waiting for an offer.

"I don't know how hot it is," Sverkos told CTK about the rumours.

"My agent only told me that they are really interested."

If Sverkos is sold to Stuttgart, it could open the door for compatriot Ivo Ulich to revive his career with Gladbach.

The club have told the attacker he can move on if a suitable offer is received but Ulich is hoping to stay.

Ulich told MF Dnes: "I only read what our new sports manager said - 'If Ulich has a good offer to transfer, he can leave'.

"But he did not say that to me personally. Our coach told me something else - 'I don't want you to leave'.

"I read that Ahlen are interested but I really don't want to go to the second league. [Wolfsburg] sounds better but I want to play at Gladbach."
