Stuttgart have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Alexander Farnerud.Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Strasbourg star Alexander Farnerud.
Giovanni Trappatoni's new employers tabled a é¼4 million bid for the Swedish midfielder, as they look to replace Alexander Hleb after the Belarus international secured a switch to Arsenal.
Racing chose to turn down the bid for their 21-year-old as president Egon Ginsberg emphasised Farnerud's value to the French outfit.
"This is a big sum, it is sure, especially for a young player as Alex," Gindorf is reported as saying in the Alsace press.
"But we also believe in him and it did not reach his value.
"We will surely not loosen it for that price.
"And, whatever the price, we will not allow him to leave without having a replacement of the same sporting value."
