Stuttgart have been rocked by another serious injury to striker Marco Streller.Stuttgart have been rocked by another serious injury to striker Marco Streller.
The Swiss international star was carried off and taken to hospital after twisting his knee in Sunday's DFB Pokal win at regional league outfit TSG Hoffenheim.
An MRI scan on Monday revealed that the 24-year-old has damaged his meniscus and will now be out of action for six to eight weeks.
"At least, I can be relieved that it's not my cruciate ligament, but it's still another big disappointment," said Streller.
The news comes as a bitter blow to under-pressure Stuttgart boss Giovanni Trapattoni, with Streller expected to feature prominently for The Swabians this season following the summer departure of top striker Kevin Kuranyi to Schalke.
Streller's new injury comes just as the lanky forward has returned to fitness following a double shinbone and fibula fracture that kept him out of action for eleven months last season.
