VfB Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira has penned a new two-year contract with the club.
The 19-year-old, who has broken into coach Armin Veh's first team squad this season, agreed the contract extension on Monday and will now be staying at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion until June 2009.
"Half of the league were after him and several top clubs were interested, but we are delighted that he has decided not to just think about the money, but has considered the sporting challenge that we can provide," said VfB sporting director Horst Heldt.
Meanwhile, Veh will have to do without another talented youngster for Stuttgart's next two Bundesliga matches.
Defender Serdar Tasci has been handed a two-match ban after being sent off at Nurnberg on Saturday and will miss the upcoming matches against Bielefeld and Dortmund.
