Stuttgart's Georg Niedermeier is expected to miss up to two months of the season after fracturing his leg.

Defender to miss six to eight weeks due to stress fracture

Stuttgart defender Georg Niedermeier is expected to miss up to two months of the new season after fracturing his leg. The centre-back has suffered a fatigue fracture of his right thigh bone, which follows the news that injured captain Mathieu Delpierre is likely to miss the first half of the season. Stuttgart team doctor Raymond Best confirmed to the official website of the club that an MRI scan had proved the extent of Niedermeier's injury. Best said: "Georg Niedermeier has sustained a fatigue fracture and will be out of action. "This fracture has been spotted early. But still he will be unavailable for six to eight weeks overall." Former Bayern Munich youngster Niedermeier is contracted to Stuttgart until June 2014. The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 46 Bundesliga matches and last season he was a regular for Stuttgart, scoring five goals in 29 league games.
