Both Ballack and Pizarro picked up slight knocks while on international duty with Germany and Peru respectively.
"Ballack will be unable to play due to knee problems while Claudio has a swollen ankle," confirmed Bayern assistant coach Michael Henke.
English international Owen Hargreaves is now expected to take Ballack's position in midfield, whilst Paraguayan youngster Roque Santa Cruz is set to join Roy Makaay up front when Bayern attempt to defend their unbeaten run in Wolfsburg's VolkswagenArena.
