Bayern Munich striker Paolo Guerrero says he will not quit playing for Peru.Bayern Munich striker Paolo Guerrero says he will continue playing for Peru, despite his country's limited chances of making next summer's World Cup.
Peru are seven points adrift of the South American group qualifying places and five points back off the play-off spot in their region, with three matches left in their campaign.
The Peruvians realistically need results against Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia to have any chance of making the trip to Germany next summer and Guerrero declared his commitment to help his national side keep their hopes alive.
"I am not going to resign from the national team," said Guerrero.
"Even though many people think that we don't have a chance of getting qualified for the World Cup, I am always going to defend my national team.
"I will give the best of myself for trying to get the victories in all the games that we still have to play in the qualifiers.
"I will be there for Peru each time that I am recalled."
The striker said he is undeterred at not getting regular first team football with Bayern at present.
"The coach knows why he takes the decisions he takes," added Guerrero.
"I work very hard and make a big effort. Then I wait for an opportunity."
