Defender could miss Champions League clash with Man City

Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is a doubt for his team's upcoming UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City, according to head coach Jupp Heynckes. The 22-year-old has been a regular starter in Bayern's defence and has been integral to maintaining their run of nine games without conceding. However, the Germany international could be absent for Tuesday night's crucial match after suffering with flu this week. Coach Heynckes told the club's official website: "A decision (on whether Badstuber will play) will be taken shortly before the game" If the youngster fails to recover he is expected to be replaced by Belgium international Daniel van Buyten. Heynckes was also keen to confirm Jerome Boateng's place in Tuesday's starting XI, stating that he would "naturally" start against City, despite being rested in Bayern's 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
