The German outfit have already won the Bundesliga and are through to the last four of the UEFA Champions League after strengthening their ranks in the summer.
The club brought in seven players - including the big-money arrivals of Javi Martinez, Mario Mandzukic and Xherdan Shaqiri - but Rummenigge believes they will sign fewer players in future.
He told Sport-BILD weekly: "If you take a look at Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Manuel Neuer and Javi Martinez, all of them have upped our quality.
"And these top quality players do not need any time to adjust.
"I feel this will be our transfer policy of the future. I am unable to imagine that we could sign five or six new players this summer."
Rummenigge's comments come with Bayern strong favourites to capture striker Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
If such a move was to materialise, Rummenigge admits he does not mind waiting until late in the transfer window to land his man.
"I have started to like acting late on the transfer scene," he said.
"These days you need to consider moves on the market. And often transfers are a chain reaction among the clubs at the very top."
