Bayer on Song trail

BAYER LEVERKUSEN are weighing up a move for Cameroon defender Rigobert Song according to reports in Germany.

The 25-year-old stopper has impressed a number of Bundesliga clubs with some strong displays for FC Cologne despite The Goats' relegation to the German Second Division.

Song has spent the latter half of the campaign on loan at Cologne from West Ham but an extended stay in Germany looks on the cards with Bayern Munich already registering their interest in 'Rigo'.

Brazilian king-pin Lucio is tipped to depart the BayArena in the summer with clubs all over Europe interested in his services and Song is maybe viewed as a replacement.

The African defender, who has the enviable record of being the first player to be sent off in two World Cups, is rated in the £3 million bracket by The Hammers who have not expressed a desire to keep the defensive stalwart.
