It is being claimed that the Bundesliga runners-up could turn to striker Brdaric and defensive utility man Vranjes to strengthen their squad for next season's campaign.
Brdaric, who won a single German cap shortly before last year's World Cup, was on Stuttgart's books as a youngster before being released.
Leverkusen offered Croatian Vranjes (pictured) a new contract this week but the 23-year-old rejected it after a season of frustration on the substitutes` bench.
With Bayer recently admitting they will struggle to fend off decent offers for their stars, Stuttgart could be priming themselves for a raid on Leverkusen.
Meanwhile Stuttgart coach Felix Magath is keeping the club waiting before deciding whether to stay at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.
Despite leading his young team into the Champions League, Magath is frustrated by the financial situation at the club and is believed to be top of managerless Schalke's wanted list.
A five-hour meeting with the Stuttgart hierarchy on Thursday failed to produce any concrete results and Magath is expected to announce a decision as to his future this weekend.
