Lucio set for Leverkusen exit

Bayer Leverkusen executive Reiner Calmund has admitted defeat in the club's attempts to keep hold of Lucio.

The Brazilian defender is contracted with the Bundesliga side until 2007, but now appears on his way out of the BayArena during the summer months.

The World Cup winner has been a transfer target for several of Europe's biggest clubs and is not likely to be short of options to choose from in the close season.

It appears Bayer are resigned to the fact he is leaving, possibly along with several other of their star names, if they get an offer they can't refuse.

"Everyone has a price," explained Calmund. "If we get a decent offer then any of our players could leave.

"In Lucio's case, we just have to be realistic. There are a hundred clubs that would like to have him, but only five who can afford to buy him."

He added: "I say that he can go too, but the price has to be right."
