The Wolves went ahead after just 14 minutes at The Volkswagen Arena through Thomas Rytter.
Argentine striker Diego Klimowicz doubled their advantage (27) before German international Thomas Brdaric (37 & 40) added another two.
After the break only one more goal came with Marin Petrov slotting home from the penalty spot.
Bayer Leverkusen remain off the pace after being held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Borussia Monchengladbach.
The ubiquitous Dimitar Berbatov had giver Bayer the lad just before the hour, but the home side took a point thanks to Vaclav Sverkos's (69) penalty.
