Bayer Leverkusen have won the race to sign Alemania Aachen's Simon Rolfes.Bayer Leverkusen have won the race to sign Alemannia Aachen's in-demand midfielder Simon Rolfes.
The 22-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal after Leverkusen agreed to shell out the é¼650,000 necessary to release him from his deal with the Bundesliga Zwei outfit.
Rolfes emerged from the Werder Bremen youth system but failed to establish himself under Thomas Schaaf and decided to move to Aachen last summer.
Impressive performances in the league and Uefa Cup campaigns drew the attention of Hamburg, Cologne and Duisburg, although the player has chosen to link up with Klaus Augenthaler's side in the summer.
In other news Aachen have announced that Unterhaching's Goran Sukalo and Aue's Matthias Heidrich will join them on free transfers at the end of the current campaign.
