Bayer Leverkusen have sealed the signing of Tunisia international Karim Hagui.

Bayer Leverkusen have sealed the signing of Tunisia international Karim Hagui.

The defender has linked up with the German club after opting to quit Strasbourg following their relegation to France's second division.

Hagui has signed a three-year contract at the BayArena, with Leverkusen thought to be paying in the region of £1.5 million.

Rennes had been keen to keep Hagui in France, but the 22-year-old has plumped for a fresh challenge in Germany.

The right back had spent two seasons with Strasbourg after helping Tunisia win the 2004 African Cup of Nations.

He also represented his country in the World Cup in Germany, conceding the penalty against Ukraine which allowed Andrei Shevchenko to score the only goal.
