Robert Vittek will miss the next six weeks for Nurnberg after suffering a knee injury.
Early Bundesliga pace setters Nurnberg have suffered a blow with confirmation that star striker Robert Vittek will miss the next six weeks.
The Slovakian picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty for his country against Malta last week.
An examination by club doctors revealed the extent of ligament damage that will keep him sidelined until the end of September at the earliest.
The news is a major disappointment for the Bavarian outfit, who have begun Die Bundesliga in style, following back-to-back victories over Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Vittek has been in blistering form for Nurnberg in the last calendar year, scoring 16 goals since the winter break, and opening his account for the new season with a strike at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.
