The Switzerland international is tied to his current employers until 2014, but is keen to take on a 'new challenge' this summer.
Nurnberg are, however, reluctant to part with the highly-rated defender and are prepared to make him see out his contract.
Klose hopes a compromise can be reached, with Wolfsburg making it known that they would welcome the opportunity to do a deal, but a deadlock in discussions could scupper his plans.
He told Nurnberg's official website: "I am pleased to have received an offer from Nurnberg which reflects my reputation.
"However, after much consideration, I have decided to accept a new challenge. If there is a chance to do so, I would like to Wolfsburg."
On the chances of a sale being sanctioned, general manager Martin Bader said: "We fully respect Timm Klose's decision.
"We had hoped to convince him to stay on due to his value to the team and the progress of the club. We now expect Timm to see out his contract with our club until June 2014.
"We have made this clear to Timm and to the representatives of Wolfsburg."
