Hertha Berlin will have defender Josip Simunic sidelined for the next two weeks.Hertha Berlin will have to do without the services of defender Josip Simunic for the next two weeks.
The 26-year-old Croatian international picked up an ankle injury during Saturday's 2-1 win over Nurnberg at the Olympiastadion.
An examination by club doctors on Monday has now revealed the extent of the damage.
The news comes as a blow for Hertha coach Falko Gotz as Simunic has been in great form for the capital city side over the past few weeks.
Hertha have conceded just 18 goals in 21 league games this season, which is the best record in Die Bundesliga.
However Simunic's absence, plus that of suspended German international Arne Friedrich, will seriously weaken their back line for this weekend's trip to fellow high-flyers Stuttgart.
