Croatia international Josip Simunic has penned a new five-year deal.
Croatian international defender Josip Simunic has extended his contract at Hertha Berlin.
The 26-year-old put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal keeping him at the Olympiastadion until June 2011.
"I have decided to stay at Hertha because I want to help develop and lead the young team here," Simunic told the club's official website.
"I feel really at home here in Berlin. Another reason for my decision was the fact that (general manager) Dieter Hoeness did everything possible to keep me here."
Exact details of the contract have not been revealed although German press reports claim that Simunic will receive around é¼2 million per year.
