Gimenez challenges Hertha

Hertha Berlin new boy Christian Gimenez has urged his team-mates to remain focused.

Hertha Berlin new boy Christian Gimenez has urged his team-mates to remain focused after helping them to top spot in the Bundesliga table.

The Old Lady sit level on points with FC Nurnberg at the top of the table after reaching the summit for the first time in almost six years.

Gimenez, who has begun the season in fine form, has challenged his team-mates to continue their start after scoring both goals in the recent 2-0 home win over Schalke 04.

"We are in pole position and this is a sensational result," he said.

"If we keep up the same spirit and fight like we did, we'll be able to stay at the top."

Meanwhile, Hertha managing director Dieter Hoeness is delighted with the summer recruit.

Gimenez joined the German outfit from Marseille on loan and Hoeness has hinted the club could use their option to buy the Argentinian ace.

Hoeness said: "I believe that we can already claim that we signed the right man, he certainly knows where the goal is."
