Hoeness slams Pantelic

Hertha Berlin general manager Dieter Hoeness has slammed top-scorer Marko Pantelic.

Hertha Berlin general manager Dieter Hoeness has slammed top-scorer Marko Pantelic following his side's dismal run of recent form.

The capital club find themselves just five points clear of the relegation zone after a run of seven Bundesliga matches without a win, and Hoeness has made no secret of his criticism of Pantelic, who has failed to hit the net since the winter break.

"When I hear that Marko says he isn't scoring because he doesn't get any decent balls, then all I can say is that he's got it wrong," Hoeness told the German press.

"He is scoring so few goals because he is too busy with other things."

Reports that the Serbian international has been listening to offers from other clubs has clearly angered Hoeness.

"I have heard things in the marketplace that makes it obvious that Marko isn't able to concentrate on the task at hand," he added.

The former Germany international striker is, however, highly critical of his team in general, adding:

"It's not just Marko - many huge egos have been the cause of us being the worst team in the league this spring.

"There is a tendency in the team for no player to want to take any responsibility."
