Bayern Munich opened up a two-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga after a 3-1 win over Ingolstadt on Saturday.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were made to work hard for the victory, falling behind to a Dario Lezcano goal in front of their own fans.

Robert Lewandowski, Xabi Alonso and Rafinha turned the game around, though, to extend Bayern's perfect start to the season.

Their closest rivals, before Hertha Berlin's clash with Schalke on Sunday, are now RB Leipzig, who followed up their 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund last weekend with a 4-0 win at Hamburg.

All the goals came in the second half with Emil Forsberg, Timo Werner (two) and Davie Selke on target for Ralph Hasenhuttl's men, who have seven points from their first three Bundesliga fixtures.

Borussia Dortmund recovered from their defeat in Leipzig last week with an emphatic 6-0 win over Darmstadt which lifted them into the top four.

Gonzalo Castro scored twice with Christian Pulisic scoring his first Bundesliga goal of the season in the rout.

Adrian Ramos, Sebastian Rode and Emre Mor, with his first goal in German football, completed the scoring for Thomas Tuchel's men, who beat Legia Warsaw by the same scoreline in the Champions League in midweek.

To make matters worse for Darmstadt, they lost their captain Peter Niemeyer to a red card in the second half.

Borussia Monchengladbach joined Dortmund on six points with a convincing 4-1 win over Werder Bremen which piles the pressure on the visitors' coach Viktor Skripnik.

Thorgan Hazard and Raffael both scored twice as the Foals inflicted the fourth straight defeat of the season on the northern Germany side, who pulled one back through a stunning strike from Serge Gnabry, but ended the game with 10 men after Aron Johannsson was dismissed.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg drew a blank in Hoffenheim with a goalless draw keeping both sides' unbeaten starts to the season intact, while Eintracht Frankfurt beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1.

Alexander Meier and Marco Fabian scored for the Eagles while Javier Hernandez netted what proved to be only a consolation for the guests, since he later struck a penalty against the post.
