Reitmaier fuming at Wolves treatment

WOLFSBURG'S veteran goalkeeper Claus Reitmaier has revealed that he is a broken man after he being told that he is surplus to requirements at the Volkswagen-Arena and will be replaced by 1860 Munich shot stopper Simon Jentzsch next season.

The 39-year-old dreamt about replacing Uli Stein as Germany's oldest Bundesliga keeper, who was 42 when he finally hung up his boots.

"My dream has been destroyed and I feel completely empty. I am broken," said Reitmaier.

New Wolfsburg coach Jurgen Rober decided to replace Reitmaier, who is tied to the Wolves until 2004, with the 26-year-old Jentzsch and the veteran is fuming about how the club has handled this difficult matter.

"I don't deserve to be treated like that. It's not a matter of age, it's about quality and I have always done a good job," fumed Reitmaier.

"My career at Wolfsburg is over, but I am fit and I want to be one of the 18 people standing between the posts in the Bundesliga each weekend."
