The 30-year-old former Aachen and Cottbus star surprisingly lost first-team status at 1860 last season and was forced to watch the Lions tumbling down to Bundesliga Zwei.
"Andre Lenz is an experienced shot stopper, who has proved his class in many Bundesliga games," declared general manager Peter Pander (pictured) after his latest coup.
Lenz has now signed a one-year contract with the Wolves, which includes an option for an additional 12 months, and he is set to serve as understudy to Simon Jentzsch.
InterToto Cup entrants Wolfsburg are determined to seal a top-five finish next season and new coach Eric Gerets had already been given the cash to land Argentine international Facundo Quiroga from Sporting Lisbon, his compatriot Oscar Ahumada, PSV Eindhoven ace Kevin Hofland and German international striker Thomas Brdaric.
