Roda say they have been priced out of a move for Kevin Hofland.Roda say they have been priced out of a move for Wolfsburg defender Kevin Hofland, but have other irons in the fire.
The Limburgers are eager to bring in fresh defensive blood and approached German side Wolfsburg about the availability of Hofland.
Roda were quoted é¼8 million (£5.4 million), a price which is way beyond the Dutch club's means.
"We have heard that Wolfsburg want é¼8 million for him," Roda director Huub Narinx told AD Sportwereld. "We can never pay that amount."
Hofland would appear to be mulling over his future, with the former PSV Eindhoven defender having one eye on the World Cup.
"I still have got a contract until 2008 at Wolfsburg, but I'm looking around," said Hofland. "With the eye on the World Cup I want to improve myself on a sporting level."
With Hofland seemingly beyond their means, Roda could turn to ADO Den Haag defender Jan Paul Saeijs.
"He is on our list and there has been a first contact with his representative," added Narinx.
Narinx is looking to be active in the winter transfer market but claims it could be tough to land their targets.
"Just like many other clubs that are in the middle of the table we don't have millions available," he added. "All of us will have to fish in the same lake."
