Borussia Dortmund coach Matthias Sammer has given his biggest hint yet that French veteran Guillaume Warmuz is likely to replace youngster Roman Weidenfeller as the club's new number one goalkeeper.
Cash-strapped Dortmund lost Jens Lehmann to Arsenal last summer and Sammer is now ready to replace untested Weidenfeller who has been first choice so far this season.
Warmuz, who moved to the Westfalenstadion as part of the Lehmann deal, could now be given the chance to establish himself in the first team.
"Warmuz has plenty of routine and experience and Roman accepted my decision as he's a real professional. His way won't end here, but he has to fight now," said Sammer.
Plagued by a massive injury crisis, Dortmund have endured a disastrous season so far and Weidenfeller's mixed form has seen them drop down the pace in Die Bundesliga and crash out of Europe.
