Germany midfielder Sebastian Kehl could suffer World Cup heartbreak after picking up an ankle injury.
The Borussia Dortmund ace was injured during his side's 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Kehl was hurt late on and is due to undergo an X-ray to determine the full extent of the ankle complaint.
But Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc suggested the outlook is bleak for Kehl, who could now miss the World Cup.
"It could be a ligament tear," said Zorc.
Kehl has only recently returned to the Germany squad after a near two-year absence and he was expected to be in Jurgen Klinsmann's 23 for the tournament.
His appearance in the March friendly against the United States was his first for Germany since before Euro 2004.
