The DFB has suspended Jermaine Jones for three games. The DFB disciplinary commission has suspended Jermaine Jones for three games after TV footage proved that the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder had deliberately stepped on the arm of Bayern Munich defender Valerien Ismael.
Referee Knut Kircher had failed to notice the incident in Frankfurt's 1-0 home defeat against Bayern, but the disciplinary commission started an investigation based on television pictures.
Jones has already accepted the punishment and expressed his shame about the incident.
"I don't know how this could happen to me. It was a blackout," declared the youngster, who will miss the trips to Wolfsburg and Duisburg and the home clash with Schalke 04.
The news is a serious blow to Frankfurt's attempts to stay out of the Bundesliga relegation zone as Friedhelm Funkel's side have won only one of their first six games this season.
Cologne striker Matthias Scherz will also miss the next three games after he was sent off in his team's 2-1 derby defeat against Bayer Leverkusen and found guilty of unsporting behaviour.
