Foals eye Dutch starlet

BUNDESLIGA strugglers Borussia Monchengladbach are tracking Den Bosch starlet Koen van de Laak.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in impressive form this term as Den Bosch chase promotion to De Eredivisie.

Van de Laak has netted 16 goals in 28 appearances and has been an integral figure in Den Bosch's push for a play-off place in the Gouden Gids Divisie.

The highly-rated midfielder is a member of the Dutch Under-21 squad and is under contract to Den Bosch until the summer of 2005.

Monchengladbach wanted to put the youngster under the microscope at the weekend in Den Bosch's thrilling 4-3 win at Sparta Rotterdam.

But the Monchengladbach scouts left disappointed as van de Laak was not involved in the match as Stefan Jansen poached all four Den Bosch goals.

The German outfit must now decide whether to look again before the end of the season although van de Laak may be reticent to join Monchengladbach if the club are relegated from Die Bundesliga.
